Can I use animated gifs?

Hello everyone I just wondered if I am able to use animated gifs as splash screen of my App because I made an animated image, uploadet it, saved, built my App, installed it and started it but the animation isn´t showing. So is that Imposible? because I made a realy nice Splash animation .
